In July and August 2006, fourteen talented teenagers came together to study the craft of essay writing at a "nerd camp" in upstate New York. This is our blog. Bow.

Monica's day.

Okay so
First day of school post since I never post here

Morning, woke up at 5:45 and took my puupy and other dog outside, took shower, got dressed while puppy sat on my bed, chewing my socks. Come 6:48 I walk up the street to go to my bus stop, wait twenty minutes for my bus to get there, and then head off to school. I don't like my bus route much this year, there are actually people on my bus...yuck.
Today was the Freshman only day, and so we came to school, and my team (group of students with the same academic/core teachers) met in the auditorium and found our "big buddies" or, the seniors who are supposed to show us where each of our classes are.
After I found my big buddy and met up with one of my friends, Gab. After a brief announcement thingy, we got shown where our lockers were by our big buddies, made sure we could open them, and then my big buddy tried to figure out what we were supposed to do, and showed us where most of our classes would be.
When the bell for first period rang, he pretty much abandoned us.
So first period I have Social Studies with my friends Greg, Shauna, and Meredith among other people that didn't pop into my head immediatly, the class doesn't seem that bad, it's just annoying because it's a two year long course because of the stupid NYS regents.
Second period I have studio in art, which seems like it's going to be an awesome class because the teacher's pretty laid back. I have lots of friends in this class (Shauna, Steph, Greg, Alma, Emily) that I'm actually allowed to talk to for the entire period, which makes me happy.
Third period.......I have math, which will only have five freshmen in it, which is so weird. I don't really have any friends in this class, which is saddening, but math is not my best subject, so it's probably better for me to pay attention anyway. Did I tell you I hate NY? I have to take the regents in January for math. Yuck.
Then there's fourth period, during which I have French. You know, the entire group of Freshmen taking french only amounts to like...thirty people? (=oneclass) I don't know what to make of the teacher yet, I've heard she's a b-(language, monica) horrible, crazy (like..literally insane) person, and she seems strict, but she also seems okay for now. But you can never judge a teacher by the first day. Ever.

Then we had this break thing where we got breakfast snacks and looked at the different clubs we could join.
Oh yeah, I should probably mention that each of the periods were like...15 minutes long today

After the break thing I had English, which is cool so far. We did a freewrite on this quote "Your hands and feet are mangoes, but you're gonna be a genious anyway" I liked that quote, and I think my freewrite was pretty good. Among others, Shauna, Mikela and Allei are in my English class, and Allei, to me, becomes a very amusing person indeed when Shauna and I are together, if not slightly homophobic.
After English I went upstairs to Biology. Bio is hard as it is. And it's a tenth grade class. And I'm in honors. Yuckyuckyuckyuckyuck. I think I might fail. The teacher seems nice enough, and like a good teacher, but she's really strict and makes you work hard.....which is totally not my thing, sorry. and I have the regents in June
After Bio comes Gym, which I have Monday, Wednesday, Friday. In the Gym I met Alicia, one of my best friends, and basically the teachers showed us the locker rooms and told us how class would go and that's about it.
And 8th period is Writer's Workshop, which I have with Alicia, and Danielle (who is Shauna's ex-best friend so there's kind of an annoying clonflict there) and my friend lindsay, but she's a junior, so I didn't see her today. Writer's Workshop seems like it's going to be an amazing class, which makes me super super happy

After that, we got herded to the cafeteria where they had sandwiches, but I just took a bunch of cookies, for a "picnic" where basically, we just chilled out and I slept. Then we went to the auditorium for another class assembely, and then it was the end of the day and I got on my bus and went home.

After I got home I searched for a place to buy corsets that weren't over $100 and then went to physical therepy and now I'm here, and at 6:30 I have pointe.
Fun.
