In July and August 2006, fourteen talented teenagers came together to study the craft of essay writing at a "nerd camp" in upstate New York. This is our blog. Bow.

STUFF

Did you know that the 100th post was on August 25, only 3 weeks after cty ended? AND, did you furthermore know that we are only reaching the 200th post now, like 7 weeks later? Actually, you did know that last part, 'cause Miranda just pointed it out. But STILL. This is *proof* we're slowing down -- people are posting less than half as often as they used to. Either that, or half as many people are posting. Maybe it's a mixture of the two. I don't know.

Anyways, it rained today...so I had to run in the rain...and I got wet. REALLY wet. Actually, I didn't even have to run, but if I didn't I'd have to run on sunday and I have better things to do on the weekend. Nobody *else* seemed to have anything better to do, though, so they all chicken out and I ended up running with sophmores 'cause the rest of the freshmen left (except one but she's insanely good, like she ran a JV race and came in 40-somethingth out of like 400 people, so I really can't keep up with her). But I'm just dedicated like that.

So really I should be studying for the PSAT tommorrow, but I'm procrastinating. It's not really the sort of thing you can study for anyway. And we get our report cards soon...my school has SIX marking quarters. Actually I guess it would be more like six marking sextesters or something...whatever. And I'm wondering how I did. Like everybody else's teachers gave them their grades, but (of course) none of mine did...

AND, remember when I mentioned the really awesome overnight track meet in rhode island that only the top 7 freshmen get to go to? I'm going *does happy dance*!!! We get to stay in a pretty hotel with room service and a pool (and a jacuzzi but supposedly it's bad for our legs or something so my coach said no jacuzzi). That's this weekend. We leave Friday after second period (which means all I go to is band and gym!) and don't come back til saturday night...it's gonna be fun.

What else...I *really* don't want to go study...oh, this weekend I volunteered at richmondtown, where my madre works. It's a historic village place, so I got to where an 1860's dress with a hoopskirt and a bonnet and I was freezing but it was fun. I ran the costome area, so I spent the whole time helping people (mainly little girls) try on dresses and stuff. I get to do a lot of stuff there...service credits. Good stuff.

And my little sister is currently going through the whole choosing a middle school process. She and my mom are at an open house for SI academy right now...which is a *prep* school (I find that funny). See, me, I just went to the middle school closest to us. And it wasn't all that great, so I guess my parents learned their lesson or something...

And I guess I really ought to go study now because I fully intend on watching Gilmore Girls at eight, giving me 16 minutes + commercials.

Wait. You already took the SATs to get into CTY, didn't you? So why would you bother taking the PSATs?

I'm confused.

It was mandatory. My school's like the only high school in the city that made it mandatory even for freshmen. It's just wierd like that.
