New Room!!!

WOOHOO! I *finally* got my own room. Me and my sister used to share because even though our house has 4 bedrooms, 2 of them are istsy bitsy 7x11 rooms... but I wanted my own room badly enough that I volunteered to take one of the small rooms. So all of today and a lot of the past week has been spent doing this massive cleaning and reorganizing and moving furniture and now my rooms done and it's PRETTY.

Other than that, not much news to share. This has been a particularly non-interesting winter break. I was supposed to go skiing with some friends on monday, but my mom decided we weren't going at the last minute because she was tearing up the carpet in her bedroom. But I can't ski anyway.

Heh. Our blog has pretty much dwindled away to me, miranda, lily, kathy, and laura. And I would like to point out to everyone that I have posted at least once a week excepting the week I was in pennsylvania and the weeks that the blog was down. I am very proud of this.

Memory of the week

Remember our starbucks obsession? Kendall was probably the worst of all of us, but our whole hall was pretty starbucks-mad. We asked Amanda (the RA) to take us to starbucks as an activity... We asked Amanda (instructor) to trake us to starbucks on a trip... with the excuse that "it's where we do our best writing!". And then we found out that there was starbucks in the machine in Sarazen but you could only go there if an RA took you and half the time no one did... but I finally managed to get some on the last day. That was when I most needed it anyway. Starbucks is good.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!

HAPPY SNOW DAY TOO!!

So yeah, I'm having a pretty good day, just hanging out. No more school until Tuesday :D

Memory of the week / update

Heh. Happy valentine's day. I have absolutely NO Valentine's day spirit. It's a holiday designed to depress people. Anyway. Remember love tape day? Everyone went around sticking duct tape on each other... but then since most people don't carry duct tape in their purse *coughmonicacough* :o) a lot ended up using other tapes... masking tape, scotch tape, post-its, etc. And everyone looked really funny. It's the sort of thing that only ctyers could come up with.

So... it's kind of snowy/sleety/icy so practice was canceled for like the FIRST TIME EVER. It's pretty cool. I got home at 3:30! AND my science test tomorrow was moved to friday! AND i didn't even have that much homework! So it's 5:30 and I'm pretty much done with everything. that's exciting.

freshman orientation was last night. i pointed out that if they're considered incoming freshmen now, that makes us incoming sophomores. So now i no longer consider myself a freshman. I am an incoming sophomore. it just sounds better. But anyway, it was fun... the track team went and we were "recruiting"... a.k.a. harassing girls into putting their name down by exclaiming "Try it! It's fun! You'll make lots of friends! You don't need any experience! It's not a committment!" repeatedly to scared looking eigth graders. I think most of them signed up just to get rid of us.

Hah, lily states? I didn't even make cities... i'd need to get 31 seconds faster in the 3000 just to qualify for that... then i'd have to come in either 1st or 2nd in the city to make states. It's not looking likely :o) But i still have frosh city champs, and i'm hoping for a medal (or maybe even two) in that. I'll miss freshman races next year.

and WOOHOO, IM GOING TO IRELAND!!! 'Nuff said.

oopsies

ahaha oops. i totally didn't forget to post for a looong time.

today is a SNOW DAY which i HATE cuz the JV CHAMPIONSHIP for track was CANCELLLLEEEDDDDD. on the other hand, i have three tests tomoro, so i guess i'll study like heck for those. woohooo.

life has been...diddly! ahaha poop diddy diddy dum dum. thats like the amazing phrase that i say when im bored. say it. it's so much fun to say.

PCR day (the day where we sign up for next yr's classes) is march 1. i wanna take expository writing to refine that essay-writing skill, and photography. sounds fun, eh.

track is over and done. haha. varsity still has practice, cuz theres states coming up. lol. hopefully, i'll make states next yrrrr, but that's going to be lots of work. woohooooo.

i hope everyone's doing just dandy/ducky.

the snow over here is like....winter wonderland + intense dandruff.

you know you're from upstate new york when...

this isnt really all that great, or accurate, but some of the stuff, especially the numbered ones, are extremely true.

If you consider it a sport to gather your food by drilling through 36 inches of ice and sitting there all day hoping that the food will swim by, you might live in Upstate New York.
If you're proud that your region makes the national news 96 nights each year because Saranac Lake is the coldest spot in the nation, and Syracuse gets more snow than any other major city in the US, you might live in Upstate New York.
If your local Dairy Queen is closed from September through May, you might live in Upstate New York.
If you instinctively walk like a penguin for six months out of the year, you might live in Upstate New York.
If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance, and they don't work there, you might live in Upstate New York.
If your dad's suntan stops at a line curving around the middle of his forehead, you might live in Upstate New York.If you have worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you might live in Upstate New York.
If your town has more bars than churches, you might live in Upstate New York.
If you have had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you might live in Upstate New York.
YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRUE UPSTATE NEW YORKER WHEN:
1. "Vacation" means going South past Syracuse for the weekend.
2. You measure distance in hours. (where do you live? elmira. about how far away is that? (insert number here) miles. how many hours? [thats an actual conversation i had once])
3. You know several people who have hit a deer more than once. (who hasnt? theyre all over the place. deer and turkeys walk through my back yard)
4. You often switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day and back again. (yup.)
5. You can drive 65 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard, without flinching. (hell yeah, if i could drive)
6. You see people wearing camouflage at social events (including weddings). (yep)
7. You install security lights on your house and garage and leave both unlocked. (my neighbors do that...)
8. You carry jumper cables in your car and your girlfriend / wife knows how to use them.
9. You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit. (done that before.)
10. Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow. (you bet.)
11. You know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter, and road construction. (exactly. and route seven is ALWAYS under construction)
12. You can identify a southern or eastern accent.
13. Your idea of creative landscaping is a statue of a deer next to your blue spruce.
14. You were unaware that there is a legal drinking age.
15. Down South to you means Corning.
16. A brat is something you eat. (i have no idea about this one.)
17. Your neighbor throws a party to celebrate his new shed. (thats happened)
18. You go out for a fish fry every Friday. (only during lent.)
19. Your 4th of July picnic was moved indoors due to frost. (not quite. due to humidity, more like.)
20. You have more miles on your snow blower than your car. (yeah. definitely.)
21. You find 10 degrees "a little chilly." (just a little)
22. You actually understand these jokes, and you forward them to all your Upstate New York friends.

theyre pretty funny. let me make up my own:
You know you're from upstate new york when...
-you get ticked off when people from out of state assume all of new york is skyscrapers, just cause new york city is, or assume if youre from new york it means youre from new york city. were from UPSTATE!!!
-you get ticked off when people think the capital of new york is new york city.
-your county and several other places where you live are named after dutch settlers or native american names.
-you live on or near a dirt road.
-youve seen a tractor/4 wheeler/snowmobile using paved roads, and arent surprised by it
-you live within two miles of a field where cows grave
-there are small airports nearby that are actually just a paved road in the middle of a field, with cows grazing next to the runway (ex. the argyle airport)
-there is at least one place in your town called a country store
-its a shorter ride to vermont than new york city
-you frequently come across accidents in the winter in which a car flipped over, and just keep driving
-hitting a deer is no big deal
-people dont skip class because theres really no place to go.
-theres some sort of ecosystem behind your school that you make a class field trip to for biology. (theres a swamp behind my school)
-you get excited when places upstate are mentioned on the national news or as a question on game shows (albany was on jeopardy yesterday!!!)
-youre proud that the night before christmas was written in upstate new york (clement c. moore!)
-you know people who have worn mini skirts in negative degree weather during a snow storm
-youve had a day off school because it was so cold the pipes froze or the heat wasnt working

welcome to majestic upstate new york.

Memory of the Week

I've decided to stop numbering them because I'm too lazy to go back and find out what the last one was numbered. So. Remember the CTY olympics? It was on the first sunday. And we all had to wear a shirt in the color of our team. I was on the green team. We were the "green party" :o) . I did the hula-hoop contest and the spoon racing thing because I was the only person who was willing to do it. I forget which team won. I know it wasn't mine, though. Trying to remember what other events there were... there was musical chairs, name that tune, trivia, a race on the track... what else? Wasn't there croquet or something? And there was an egg toss! I remember the egg toss. Yeah. It was pretty fun.

......

in an effort to stop Miranda from talking to herself, ive declared its time to post.

um..... whats been going on? well, im student senate president by default because our president graduated early and nobody else wanted the job. yay apathy. were selling candygrams for valentines day, and nobody wants to buy them, and if we dont at least break even im going to cry. we need money.

we started a writing club at my school, and it rocks. i enjoy it immensely.

gym sucks. what else is new. theyve been stressing this teamwork thing lately. they dont understand that i shun group activities. ive decided my gym teacher is a communist.

my english class has been good, we have a student teacher who rocks. were doing romeo and juliet and shakespeare and such. finally i understand sonnets.

i think ive decided not to go back to cty, because theres this other camp i wanna go to that occurs at the same time. im still internally debating, though. i kinda wanna take crafting fiction.

and............. thats it, without going into too much detail. my life.

Me, again

Well this is sorta becoming just me, me and more me. No one else is posting :P Yet no one comments on my stuff either. Ehh.... sall good. I'm still sick, very fun. Uhh..... big history paper due soon, and then an ips project (IPS- Intro to Phyisical Science). Moooooore fun. I think I'm staying home from school tomorrow. I'm soooo amazingly tired. Tired to like the point of tears has anyone else ever been that way? Tomorrow is the only day all week that I can stay home without skipping a test or a game or assemb ly or this or that. :P

Annnnyway. Not much else is happening with me. If I stay home tomorrow I'll probably work on proofreading my story so then I can send out more to anyone who wnats it (so far only Kathy :P)

Besides that..... I'm preeeetty good.

You know you're from Connecticut when these apply

You have hiked up a big hill or small mountain at least once for a keg party.

You never went to a bar in high school.

You thought that the only highways were 91 and 84.

You thought everyone couldn't buy beer after 8 pm

You actually thought that Hartford was big

You or someone you know has attended UCONN

You still don't understand why people say that Connecticut is the richest state.....

Your best friend went to Central, Western, Eastern and finally Manchester Community College.

Your mom works at Travelers and your dad works at Pratt and Whitney.

You have been drunk at the Meadows and don't remember the concert.

You go to Riverside at least once a summer

Your parents actually care about the Governor, the Patriots coming to Hartford, the lights at Christmas in Hartford & Channel 3 news.

You think New Jersey was a toxic waste dump

You hang out at Denny's

You've partied at bonfires

You go to the diner late night to post party.

You think New Haven is the worst ghetto you've ever seen

You can proudly tell an outsider about Nutmeg.

You weekend either on the Cape or Rhode Island at a summer home

You have said... " I'm in a good location... Between both Boston and New York."

When you go to a real city, you sincerely feel bad for every poor / homeless person you see.

You get pissed at anyone who doesn't know how to drive in the snow.

You can name all the members of the UCONN men's and women's basketball teams.

You still can't find your way in Hartford (except for that bar area near Union Station.)

You hold the door open for someone and they don't say "Thank You."

You own a golden or a lab (used to...)

Your mother is the head of the PTA

There is absolutely nothing to do in the winter

You can't get through the week with out a Coffee Coolata

Your family owns more cars than legal drivers

School attire is a North Face fleece jacket, a North Face Fleece or L.L. Bean back pack, a polo shirt, khakis, and Doc Martins.

As a child you took horseback riding, golfing, tennis and swimming lessons.

You grew up wanting to be a lifeguard

You own every DMB CD

The state is so small you know where all the speed traps are

You can't understand why people don't understand what your talking about when you refer to a "package" store

You went to prep school even though your public schools are awesome

People actually wear sweaters around their necks

You know of at least one person who's house was totally trashed after a huge party

Your mom drives a Volvo wagon

You have at least one friend whose house was built in the 1800's

You live in a huge colonial

You know at LEAST one person who has been pulled over and found to have weed in their car

The only overcrowding is of deer in your backyard

Your house would cost half as much in any other state

Your wardrobe contains at least three pairs of cords and five wool sweaters

Half of your friends are from another town because yours is so small

At least one of your friends has a sick house right on the water

The sad thing is a lot of these things are tue, at least for my friends. It's mostly people I know, not me thank you very much. :P

bored and doing hw

so....im supposed 2 b doing hw, but its boring and so is life so far....
2day wuz so freakin cold outside, and for gym we had 2 walk 2 the bowling alley, wich is pretty far away, so my frends and i ran with the wind blowing in our face and so wen we arrived, we wer pretty much frozen.
havnt really talked 2 kendall l8tly, shes always away on AIM, so....she seems 2 hav a vry busy life....
ur rite, alydaar hasnt been on in a looooooong time, but at least we are.....

midterms wer finally ovr, and we got our grades. of course, i had 2 screw up on some of them....parents wernt 2 happy and neithr wuz i....

ok. havta do hw rite now. english, how fun.

hmmmmmmm

I'm sitting at school right now, watching the movie that the musical the high schoolers are going to do. My team just lost my basketball game... by ONE point. If any of you have ever watched basketball you know that the points go by really fast and every shot is worth two points except a fouls hot. So losing by A point is realllllllllly close. It was such a nail biting game.

Besides that not much has happened today. I'm staying at school until like 8 tonight. Then I have to go to my dad's house, pack up, and bring all my stuff to my mom's house. Funfunfun. I was tired today, think of tomorrow if I don't sleep enough.

:P

soooooo

kudos to Laura. She's helped us yet again. Now I feel special because I'm an admissions person too. So.... I took the SATs for the second time like two weeks ago. FunFunFun. I think I did better this time though, since I knew some geometry. Everything except my SAT scores are in for my college admissions and as soon as they're graded they'll be sent in (I'm SOOOO nervous).

I'm watching the superbowl with my dad right now, wondering whether or not I'll stay upto watch the whole thing. I'm glad we got the site back up, I was afraid it would be too difficult to make another one with everyone on it.

Anyway, who actually checks the blog now? I realize that people check but don't post but some people just don't check at all. Has anyone talked to Alydaar or.... holy crap i just blanked on her name.... KENDALL!!! Ahh! I had to go back to that email we sent around and check!!! I was thinkin like Kelsey, Kelly.... ahh!!!

Now I feel bad :(

Is anyone interested in reading my story? Because I've been working on proofreading it. I;ve been sending it too some peaople and I've mentioned it before but I was just wondering.

Oh, and also my elementary science teacher died. She was 81 and she had lung cancer from years of smoking. She was closer then some of my grandmas. Her name was Josephine Stadler Wheeler but we called her Jo. I miss her.

Rest in Peace Jo.

Go Laura!!!!

Hey, laura, ur the best!! Do u know wat wuz wrong with it in the first place?

regents and midterms are finally over, didnt do as good as i wanted, and far away from wat my parents expected....
but anyway, spent all of friday nite and saturday in GREAT WOLF LODGE water park!!! for girl scouts, wuz totally awesome

WOOHOO!! IT'S BACK!!

And better than ever!! Actually, it's exactly the same... but we *appreciate* it more now it's been dead and then rose again thanks to Laura our hero. Anyway.

Regents week is over (grr) so the second semester started last thursday. I have all these new classes with new teachers and all these people who I swear I've never seen before and now I have to go through that whole adjusting and making good first impressions stuff all over again. But only 10 days left until president's week.

Not much else. There were these creepy birds in my yard today. There was literally hundreds of them; I was watching TV and all of a sudden this HUGE flock zooms past my window and I go look in the backyard and they're all sitting there, on the grass, on my deck, on the roof, in the tree... it was very strange.

And tonight's the superbowl!! Woohoo! Not that I understand football *at all*. I watch it for the commercials :o)
