From the Mauser Collection

In July and August 2006, fourteen talented teenagers came together to study the craft of essay writing at a "nerd camp" in upstate New York. This is our blog. Bow.

Hey, everybody!

Wow. This is getting sad. I haven't been on here in ages...

But, in an effort to keep things alive, I am posting with an update on my life.

So. School is good. I'm having a little break right now b/c the last massive set of hws for AP World were due last week (HOORAY!!) and my massive research project to be entered in the Quality of Life competition is due on Wed, but is more or less finished (meaning all I have to do is print a few things & staple it, etc.) The project is on "awareness of overuse injuries in high school athletics." It's pretty good, if i do say so myself.

Speaking of overuse injuries, my stress fracture has now been completely gone for three months. I'm still not nearly where i was before the sf, but i'm really hoping that i'll be back in full health for cross-country next year.

So, this summer...it's not looking like i'll be going to cty. Reasons being: a) i feel like i can't afford three weeks out of my summer...last year it was REALLY bad getting everything done when i came back, not to mention i got that ol' stress fracture from the rather large milage increase; b) i don't know... it just feels a bit young now. However, i'll almost definately be doing something. I've applied for a psychology mini course at Brown in July, and there are a bunch of other programs as well. What about you guys (are you out there?)?

What other news... if any of you would be interested in reading that novel we wrote in ireland, i'd be happy to send it to you. Keep in mind that it makes no sense whatsoever (it was never fully edited), is completely full of inside jokes, and is kinda inapporpriate in many, many ways (yes, ctyi is WAY less strict about that sort of thing than cty). But it's still very funny. In that it-makes-no-sense-is-full-of-inside-jokes-and-is kinda-innapropriate sort of way.

Um, not much else. Happy (late) Easter everyone! Happy Spring! HAPPY (really late) ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

Short Hello

Hey--Justine--if I remember correctly, you go to Chatham, right? Do you know someone at your school named Malcolm Laskey?

He's my buddy from writing camp.

Um, yes, that was random.

So, I've been busy. Lots of school stuff, and masterminds (my team's second in the league!) and various other extracurriculars. Not too much important going on, I suppose. Uhh...I helped review three of the candidates for our school's new superintendent, that was cool. I've been writing some, started on a new story...

I am listening to the Sweeney Todd soundtrack right now. I did not see the movie, and some of the music is blah, but the lyrics are fantastic. My current favorite line? "No, you see, the trouble with poet is how do you know it's deceased? Try the priest!"

The Juno soundtrack is very very good. I highly recommend it.

I grew a flower on my desk for a while, and then yesterday it bloomed and I found it to be very smelly, so it is now downstairs.

....yes.
