In July and August 2006, fourteen talented teenagers came together to study the craft of essay writing at a "nerd camp" in upstate New York. This is our blog. Bow.

Dude!

Sorry I haven't posted in forever, I've been majorly busy as well. I've got a bunch of stuff I've been putting off till the end of the year which I really really need to get to finishing. Masterminds television match is being recorded this Friday!! And our playoffs are next week!! we have to like completely dominate. I want to at least make it to the second to last round. It's gonna be so awesome.

I've also been writing, I really need to finish this thing so I can submit it to my writing camp. I'll try and post it maybe once I finish if you guys wanna tell me what you think!

Um... I know that's really short, but I massively need to get writing.

I'll try and post later!

HEY. (and a late memory of the week)

Right, so i haven't posted in a little while. I have no excuse other than being busy (which is a decent excuse!) and then i tried to post but it wanted me to get a google account and i just king of said "oh yeah, i should do that...eventually" and i only just finally did it. So, there.

Umm... hey I won an essay contest! Thought you esssayissstsss might like to know that. The contest was "the wonders of plasitcs" and we had to do it as a project for robotics last term, but it was actually a citiwide contest and I'm getting $200 for me and $200 for the school. Which is pretty cool.

And I am really-truly-as-in-already-accepted-and-already-bought-the-plane-ticket-absolutely-definately-unless-something-huge-pops-up-last-minute going to Ireland for CTYI this summer! I'm taking a class on novel writing which sounds really fun. Then my family and my aunt and her friend are flying in for closing ceremonies and we're leaving Dublin on this adventure tour of ireland for a week. My dad bought a book and was trying to learn gaelic (which is apparently called Irish now... who knew?) but he gave up 'cause he said it's the most bizarre language. But anyway, I am super-de-duper excited.

And here's the memory of the week:

Remember when we read the articles about "Nerd Camp" which were SO TOTALLY WRONG? And we kept going on about how stupid that guy was, and how he only interviewed the really nerdy kids and only focused on their nerdiest aspects. So Amanda had us write essays/letters to him where we all yelled at him and told him exactly how wrong he was and got all our anger out and it was pretty funny :o)

I actually am somewhere for vacation!!!

YAY!!! I was supposed to just stay home and.... hang out.... but now my dad, stepmom, and half sister are up in Cape Cod for a few days. We're staying in a really nice house that belongs to one of my dad's friends. They rent it out in the summer so right now nobody is staying in it and they're letting us use it for free. We went to the beach today but it was soooooo cold and sooooo windy and my little sister got soooooooo grumpy.

I listened to Pride and Prejudice on tape the other day (in just one day, i have no life) and now I'm reading The Constant Princess by Phillipa Gregory. I really like Phillipa Gregory as an author, she writes historical fiction about like the kings and queens of Europe in the 1500's or so.

Annnnnywaaaaaay. Not much else is happening, just hanging out on the cape, relaxing. A lot of stuff is for sale around here, it's kinda weird, and the houses are so nice. I guess it's expensive though, either that or people got tired of these long new england winters :P.

Apparently the weather is weird because of El Nino, some change in the climate, and that's why we have warm sun and then snow, or "wintry mix"
:D

Brr.....

yeah, it snowed sooooooo freakin much over here!!! I shoveled after it snowed, but it was frozen on top and on the bottom near the sidewalk, so it took quite a while. i got almost no snow during the winter...
I had to march in the St Patricks Day Parade 2day, and yeah, it was extremely cold, seeing that we were in the third battalion (meaning in the last half) and had to stand outside in the windy cold for TWO HOURS!!!!!! so our hands were all frozen and we made a sad attempt to play our music....it was fun though. The parade in PR, here, is the second biggest st patricks day parade in, like, the world!!! the NYC parade is obviously bigger.

Why the FRISBEE is it SNOWING?!?! (and a memory of the week)

TWO days ago is was almost 80 degrees. Today it's snowing. Slash sleeting, slash raining, slash hailing. A "wintry mix". I despise wintry mixes. Especially when two days ago you were wearing shorts and a t-shirt. The weather is WIERD.

Anyway. Remember the murder mystery/"elvis impersonator entertainment"? There were the two feuding families, one of them was known for playing fat elvises and the other was known for playing skinny elvises. Than the elvis guy died and he was in love with I forget who but there was something in the bracelet. Oh, the remedy. Cause he wasn't really dead. it was some sort of medication prescribed by the doctor guy, but he took too much so people would think he was dead. I forget why. I think it had something to do with him being in love with I forget who. Ooh, and "H.H." -- Heartbreak hotel and also the initials of his girlfriend (or one of his previous girlfriends. there were three.). And we had to sing for one of the people. And they forgot about our class so we had to team up with astronomy. And we didn't solve the mystery. Very sad.

today, i am fifteen.
no one remembered in the world, but thats ok.

I'm back from the dead!

I've been surrounded by lots and lots and lots of school, but I finally have spring break! Two weeks of no work. Thank goodness.

I've kinda disappeared over the last few days, weeks maybe. But it's just from all the work I've been doing. Assessments have come and gone and now I'm in the third trimester.

On Friday I found out that I'm going to college next year. I finally got in after months of waiting. I'm so glad, it means I can be down with my sister in VA next year. I'm getting mixed responses though, and it's making me uncertain. Some people think its great that I'm going and others can't understand why I would want to go. Grr.

I'll probably be posting a lot more for these few weeks, just because I'll have more time but then it's back to barely existent Miranda, drowning amongst her massive amounts of homework.

Oh, and I also started my own blog here, www.bookofmetaphors.blogspot.com

I GOT ACCEPTED INTO COLLEGE!!!

Sunday, March 04, 2007

WOOHOO!!!!!

INDOOR IS OVER!!! I disliked indoor track immensely. The armory (where we run) smells bad. The air is stale and dry and gross and when you run your whole mouth gets dry after like half a lap and the races seem like they go on FOREVER because the track is only 200m, while outdoor tracks are 400m, which makes the whole thing a lot nicer mentally and even though when you're outside sometimes you have to race in the rain or when it's really cold or something, it's totally worth it for the fresh air.

That was a really long sentence.

But I'm kind of excited because frosh city championships were today. I don't know how our team did because I left early but my 4x800m relay team won 1st place!!! That was incredibly cool. Especially since we were seeded 4th and then we won and we were all like WOW. And I was 5th in the 3000m. Which is good, but I think I could have come in third because I ran 12:39 but I've done 12:30 before and I was in third for most of the race but then two girls sprinted past me in the last lap, except neither of them had a time better than 12:30. So I think I could have beat them if I had to do it again. But still, 5th place is good for 2 points and a medal, so it's okay.

That's all. I was just excited and had to get this out.

heya

hey, sorry i havent posted in forever.

so, i went to italy over february break because my grandpa is fairly rich and extremely italian oriented, so he has been bringing us for the past few years. we went to sicily. it was really beautiful, warm, and i learned a lot of cool things, and actually got a pretty good book idea. it was pretty awesome.

ummm all the crap i had to do has worked out and everythings all right now. some people from my masterminds team are going to get together on a team to do a trivial pursuit challenge at the local community college. it shall be gloriously fun. i love being a nerd.

what else? eh, i think thats it...

where IS hank? i thought like amy had him last time i heard or something like that. or maybe it was moose. speaking of which, neither of them have been on the blog for forever. or alydaar, or kelly, etc. the list of apathetic people goes on and on.

Memory of the week

Sorry it's kind of late, but this week has been a no-time sort of week. So, remember pizza nights? We'd all ahve to come up with an order the night before. The first time we ordered *way* too much food and ended up giving like half a pie away to some random girls on the fourth floor because we wanted to give them back the calories they burned by walking up four flights of stairs each day. Our minds think in wierd ways. Then we all had to give our money to the collector person. I can't remember who this was, but for some reson I think it was either Chetna, Lily, or Amy. Then someone went outside to stand by the corb with everyone else from the second floor to wait for the pizza guy. And we'd watch every single car that drove into the campus and say "Maybe it's him!" but then it wasn't. Until he finally would come. Then it was. And for some reson it seemed like he always got to our food last. Then people outside during social hour would beg us for pizza, but we were strong and didn't give it to them (except sometimes). Then comes the good part -- where we eat the pizza. Except no one has any plates or napkins and we ran out of cups. But pizza still is WAY better than anything the siena people made for our dinners.
