In July and August 2006, fourteen talented teenagers came together to study the craft of essay writing at a "nerd camp" in upstate New York. This is our blog. Bow.

Summer is not supposed to be stressfull...*whines*

I know, I promised a big long post about Ireland as soon as I got back... which was almost three weeks ago. But I've just been INSANELY overloaded with schoolwork to the point where I've barely been in touch with my CTYIers from this year, and I was away for a week last week also, cause my team went to track camp.

And I've decided that Ibn Battuta was a selfish, stuck-up, obnoxious, sexist, bullying, arrogant, annoying little twerp who never actually travelled around the world, he just heard stories and read books about India and China and all those fun places and decided to pretend he had visited them and wrote a book about them because he was an ANNOYING TWERP. You have probably never heard of him. Consider yourself lucky.

Ahem. Ireland. It was really pretty. And I came back and taught all my friends Irish lingo and they are now constanly hering "Ireland stories." CTYI was at Dublin City University (DCU) and Novel Writing was brilliant. We wrote a novel as a class. It's amazing. It makes no sense. It is the most random, chock full of inside jokes-y novel you will ever read. I mean, picture 20 teenagers writing a novel over the couse of four days. Yeah.

'Kay, I've gotta write a short post cause I want to get up semi-early tomorrow to run. That way I'll have the rest of the day to work on my science paper. Ho hum.

OOH, almost forgot to mention -- Evanna Lynch (she plays Luna Lovegood) was at CTYI! She was taking another writing class. I talked to her a couple of times, cause my friend Sorcha was friends with her. She's really nice, not at *all* stuck up or anything... she actually kind of reminded me of Luna, though Evanna's more down-to-earth... then again, most people are...

Okay, now I'm really done. Maybe I'll write more when (if) I finish all my work. For now, toodles.

picking randomness out of my head

wooo i just spent 1.5 hrs on two pieces....intense practice. my fingers feel like iron-clad silly puddy: strong but amazingly flexible. is that how u spell flexible? it looks all strange.

speaking of silly puddy, has anyone seen any lately? i used to be obsessed with that stuff. who knew, you know? i was intrigued by the gooey stuff in a little plastic eggshell too...when i was a little one anyway. i don't see it around anymore though. i mean, it's not like it hangs around on the sidewalk, waving to the policeman and kissing babies, right? i remember i used to have glittery purple silly puddy...until it dried up into this cracked purple poo mess. i just might have lost interest then.

i was looking at the cty 3-week-book a couple hours ago. (3-week-book because as we weren't there for a year, i decided it didn't deserve the honor of being a yrbk.) and i was once again blown away by how AMAZING OUR PAGES LOOKED CUZ WE OWNED AND HAD THE MOST AMAZING INSIDE JOKES.

like...

you remind me of the babe.
what babe?
the babe with the power!
what power?
the power of the voodoo...
who do?
you do!
do what?
remind me of the babe...

well i guess that was for those of you who came along and watched the labrynthe with us, which was a ridiculous movie with like, flying sumthings (i dont remember what they were...or am i thinking of oz?)

13 days until summer ends! yes, im a weirdo, and instead of counting down the days until summer, i count down the days until school.

is there anyone who counts down the days until summer on the first day of school? like..1 down...179 more to go.

heyoooo

sorry it's been a while, i was in michigan visiting my family and.... around and not doing anything hahah. Well I'm packing for college now. I'm leaving in two days!! So there's lots of packing.

Some of my CTY friends from this year went to New Haven today and we met there since it's kinda in the middle. We should so try and get together sometime, except that I'm going to college. I'm going to be back for Black Friday though, is anyone going in? Even if you didn't go this year? If not I'm gonna try to go up to Massachusetts because now i've got tons of friends up there.

Franklin was FAT.

I'm rereading all these passages and essays and book (singular) that I had to read this summer, and you know what, I've come to the conclusion that Benjamin Franklin was a FAT, LADY-LOVING TRENDSETTER. which is quite a formidable combination, now that i try to picture him walking around trying to get a view of the women over his fat jiggly rival-to-santa belly...with a huge crowd of people following i n his footsteps, attempting to fatten themselves up, and hang women around their necks.

Anywhoo, other than reading, im basically chilling at home, running, piano-ing, eating like an elephant WITH a trunk in a pool filled to the brim with peanuts. except i hate peanuts. so my food is more like pizza, noodles, etc, etc.

oo man, well. yes, summer is almost over (that must be the millionth time i've said that.) so relish your last days! i can't wait until school starts. i <3 school!

HAHHA remember when greg was reading kelly's paper. and he was like "i less than three cty? wth does that mean?"

hahah <3

Hello Everyone!

Yeah, I haven't been on since forever, since I've been so busy.
My sister is going to be a senior next year, so we have been going crazy with applications, campus visits.....

But....o yeah! I got my braces off yesterday, so now my teeth are nice and even and I don't have to wear my retainer until I go to sleep!
Everyone with a facebook: I kinda deleted my account, it got pointless and this guy, who I'm kinda but not really friends with, was sorta stalking me.

So now I'm bored.
I'm glad that the blog has more posts though.

*PEEP!*

That was me mysteriously peering out of my antisocial hole. I basically haven't posted here in....... forever. Cause I've basically been doing nothing. I got a facebook, though, so we can stay in touch in a better way!

I've been reading a lot of books..... I went to the same writing camp as last year that I couldn't shut up about, which was, of course, equally awesome to last year's. I actually passed by Siena when you guys were up there, and said to myself, "Self, you should go see all those CTYers!!!" And then I realized I don't think you guys are sposed to have visitors and I might be tackled by a moderately burly and threatening looking TA.

Mmmm... I've been doing some writing. I actually have a few informal essays that I'm proud of. And I'm thinking about getting a job, but I'm apprehensive about doing so, cause then I wouldn't be able to do so many school activities. But then again, I'd get paid. Advice, anyone? I'm thinking about applying at a place right next door to school so I could just walk next door after school...

Is Amelia still in Ireland? I want an ENORMOUS post telling all about it, it sounds so awesome!!!

shoot i forgot its trunk

$'-'3

shoot i forgot its trunk

$'-'3

o look at this, i made it up when i was bored

$'-'3 IT'S AN ELEPHANT!

cool plates

hey has anyone ever seen those plates that are made in shape of like, bear faces....and there's all these different animals on each one? wait no. EAch one is a different animal! They're sooo cute. i have a hipppo and a turtle.

huh i dont remmeber if i said this, but one of my summer school teachers brought a hedgehog to class on the last day....it's name was sonic (lol, lame, i know. unoriginal.) but it was so adorable! at first, it was curled up in a little ball, and its spikes were like HELLO DONT TOUCH ME OR I'LL SHOVE MYSELF INTO UR FINGER. but then its little nose poked out of nowhere, and then it finally revealed its soft little belly. omgg it was adorable. except the thing with hedgehogs, is that they're nocturnal. and it kept trying to crawl up my shorts, cuz it was darker there....

anywho, im reading gone with the wind right now, and it's turning out to be a better read than i thought it'd be. im also surprised cuz int he book, scarlett o'hara isnt actually like, beautiful and wispy, she's just really unique looking and that's why everyone's attracted....i always imagined her as basically, what she wasnt.

summer is coming to a close soon! (eh, maybe a few more weeks, but it'll be sooner than we all believe) so i'll wish all of another happy-rest-of-summer!

Back from CTY!

Heyall! I'm back!
Jeez, you guys really let the blog slow down while we were away. This time last year there were like 10 posts everyday. I'm so sad CTY's over again and I was a no more this year, (unless I'm really REALLY lucky) so yea. I've been talkin with all my friends from this year, i just added like 20 new people on facebook.

I sprained my ankle the first saturday there playing ultimate frisbee so I was on crutches for like 5 days, it was supposed to be longer but they were pissing me off. I was the opening act in the talent show this year, I played the same song as last year except that this time you could hear me cause my mic was working :)

My birthday was there again, I'm 14 now. It was a pretty good birthday, although I got more presents from you guys :P I was the youngest kid in the class and hall but that was kinda cool since a lot of people there were reaaaally little. I'll prolly post more later, now it's sad to think about CTY

Out of "the loop"

I haven't posted anything in like 3 months!! I think I'm gonna try to post more often because I feel so disconnected! Like Lily said a lot of people probably went to CTY this year [I did!]. I went to Siena again but session 1! I figured those of you that went this year went session 2 since I didn't see anyone there :( It was pretty fun! I met a lot of new people!! But not as fun as last year! Oh remember how we used to play sardines during social time? Well I tried the same trick where I hid behind the door near where they were counting and it worked! Unfortunately they really couldn't find me and they ended up having to get our RA. There was also a girl in my hall who went to Siena last session and had Amanda as and RA and knew Monica! So those of you at CTY when you get back and read this ::: I hope you had fun!!
I've been having a good summer too! I just came back from the Bahamas and I got reallly bad sunburn!! ;)

have a good rest of the summer!!!! =]

august!

ooo wow i was so worried that i'd be out of the loop, because I havent written for a while, but i guess the blog has sort of come to a halt for the summer. my summer school just ended, and i got an A and an A+ in the two classes i took (chyeahhh.)

It is sweltering hot and i feel like my skin is melting off my bones/muscle things.

guess what? i read the stuff from my white/yellow folder from cty last year! IT was pretty exciting, due to the fact that i thought everything i wrote would sound really stupid, but it was all actually kind of entertaining! i must have been some interesting 9th-grader-to-be!

anywho, summer has been a work-work-work kind of few months for me. and now i can chillax for a few days, and then slave away and study for my back-to-school test which will occur within the first 3 days of school *woohoo....*

happy rest-of-the-summer!
