Happy Birthday Chetna!!!! 14, rite?
In July and August 2006, fourteen talented teenagers came together to study the craft of essay writing at a "nerd camp" in upstate New York. This is our blog. Bow.
ok, if im rite, its chetnas bday. if im wrong, thats just stupid of me....
Happy Birthday Chetna!!!! 14, rite?
u no how in newspapers, u hear all those stories of like so-and-so died and stuf? well, sumthing happened that kinda made me think how close ppl really are....
my frend iris, shes like my BFF, lives in city...
her classmate, josh sinkh, returned home from school yesterday...and he found both his parents dead.
like, i dont even know this guy, but my best frend does, and....yeah. its shocking and scary, how close things can b. and at first, no1 believed it, but its in the newspaper....
i'm so tired. I was babysitting from like 6 to 1 am last night. I got around 5 hours of sleep, and I don't work welll on little sleep, I get REALLY hyper actually. So today'll be interesting
I'm working on proofreading my story, I tihnk it's going pretty well so far, and I'm thinking of various possible titles. If any of you wanna read it I can send updates to you as I proofread (I'm already doin that for some)
Besides that I'm sorta good. I'm takin the SATs again on saturday, besides that everything else is prepared for my college application so cross your fingers! (they actually said my numbers from last year would probably be good enough, but I could get more financial aid and/or more security of gettin in.)
Ummm..... I'm studying for various tests, workin on two projects.... and other stuff. But that's about it.
WOOHOO! I made it! NO MORE ROBOTICS! And NO MORE GYM (at least til i'm a sophomore)! And now I have a week off!!! And NO REGENTS!!! Except I'm taking an exam to be in AP Global next year tomorrow...and I have track practice like everyday... so i'll end up spending a ridiculous amount of time at that school anyway. But that's okay.
Hey, so it actually *snowed* last week. Sure, most of it didn't stick, and what did melted in a couple of hours, but it's a start. And running in the snow, aside from being cold, is also insanely fun in a wierd sort of way. I <3 snow.
And CTYI this summer is looking increasingly more likely... I got the course description packet for the classes there, and am choosing between a couple that sound interesting... not sure yet, though. And they call dances "discos". Heehee. I started laughing every time the packet mentioned them. I'm easily amused.
The indoor island championships were yesterday... I ran the 3000m again and came in 13th out of 16 girls! Woohoo! Actually, it's not as pathetic as it sounds since it was a varsity only meet and I was running against some of the best girls on the island. I got like 15 seconds better from my last 3000m (my time was 12:35) so, yeah, I was pretty happy.
uggg... just spent 4 HOURS of my saturday in a math a regents review session. can anyone think of a better way to spened their weekend? not I!! im all mathed out lol
o, and miranda, yea i was gonna see if you could go skiing or something, but no snow... it's getting colder, though, so there's hope!!!
Who remembers the names of all the buildings (or at least the ones we used) ? There was:
-- Padua (girl's dorms)
-- Ryan (boy's dorms)
-- Sarazen (student union)
-- Siena Hall (where our class was)
-- The library (self-explanatory)
-- Foy (where the dances were)
-- Roger Bacon (where the movies were)
-- The MAC (gym/pool)
-- Serra hall (the non-existant dining hall)
...and yeah, I think thoses are the only ones we used. There were also a bunch of random little buildings that we never went to so I don't know what they're called.
Oh, and Monica, do you know Allison Pilatsky from session 1? She's a junior at my school (I know her from track) and we just realized this week that we both go to CTY... and she asked if I knew you since you went to both sessions and I'm like "Yeah!" It's cool when you find other CTYers.
Hey guys! I haven't talked to you all in a long time! Im still here though! I have had a lot going on! Im planning my high school schedules now and Im going to be screwed because I am taking all honors classes. I don't do sports in the winter unlike most of you! I heard Miranda got contacts! WOW i don't think I could imagine that! SEND A PIC! Did you guys get your CTY course booklet things yet? Are you guys even going this year? I think I am and I am probably going to the same place during session1 and i might take intro to bio med sciences or ethics. I wanna hear from you guys! And I am really really excited because my birthday is in 9 days!!!!!!!!
haha i had my piano competition yesterday, i guess i did okay? no idea, they were the semifinals, so we find out who made finals sometime around this week! except, the entry level was freshmennn and there were seniors in that competition, so...some chance i have! anyway, this week is the stressful week of math midyears! (just like the rest of u!) the teachers for other subjects arent supposed to give tests during midyears, (which are wed and thurs this week) so they push all the tests to friday. hahah so i have math midyears, and then two humungo tests for wh and english on friday! i also have a meet tomoro, and i have no idea what im running, cuz they switch us around everywhere. lol. im studying for math right now, (geo *bleh* i HATE GEO......) making a major study guide. hahaha im like taking all the proofs and re-writing them so my proofs dont pop up randomly everywhere in my notes. yuppp.
hahah o yeah miranda! how was ur competition...if u've had it already? i dont remember......
happy monday!
Hey evry1!!! its my 1st blog lol. yea, it sounds like evry1 is pretty busy. i got regents and midterms coming up 2. i gotta take the math A regents this year, u can laugh at me 2!!! that is advanced math at our school, lol. got swimming going on. we actually have a shot at a winning season this year!! :) with all that plus the all-county band concert coming up, i have barely any free time. hee hee. so... christmas. got one of those chocolate phones, and get this-my dad got me a bright red bass guitar!!! it was completely out of nowhere, but i love it!!! never played before. as u can imagine, i stink, but im getting better lol.
ya, so thats pretty much it from where im standing...
jeez. all your sporty people. i have masterminds. that's a sport, as far as im concerned. our most recent meet, we lost against two other teams but beat one. today we played against some of the teachers in our school, and we had tied by the end, and then we had a sudden death question which neither team got, and then we had another sudden death question that our team got. it feels good to beat teachers.
today i had to play the piano for a talent show because national junior honor society was hosting it and we had too few acts, so i volunteered. big mistake. i dont get nervous in front of people when im speaking, but playing piano, ive never done in front of people before. i was terrified. i played fairly decently, though, i only screwed up one time, and i kept going so it was okay. i played "wishing you were somehow here again" from the phantom of the opera.
i have a midterm in math and band coming up. grr.
regents week coming up, i get to have four days off while laughing at some of my friends, who have to take the Math A regents! (i took that last year) muhaha. i laugh at their misfortune.
still reading the nineteen books from christmas. i love books.
and... thats just about it.
rock on from all of us in majestic upstate new york.
Remember how on the nights of dances we would all eat really fast in order to get back to the dorms ASAP? Except I was always finished first so I would end up waiting for someone else to come back with me... then we'd have like an hour to shower, change, get ready and make sure our rooms were neat for *inspection*. And gather in the hall for pictures, and then finally go to the dance. I remember someone (forget who) was taking videos on their camera while we were getting ready for the last dance... who was that?
I got my braces off today.
I have big teeth, that upset me for awhile once I realized it.
But now I'm totally over that, because I don't care.
But my teeth arent very white
They never were though, so it's okay.
...though really not much has been going on. Ooh, wait, I do have news!!! It's looking like I really might go to CTY Ireland this summer!!! HOW COOL IS THAT?!?! And if I do, after the three weeks spent at CTY, my family would join me for another week of just sightseeing and stuff. Heehee. Someone should come with me. It'll be great fun.
Other than that... I have about a million tests/finals within this week and next week. Tommorow is Global (part I). The only thing keeping me going is the knowledge that there's only two weeks until regents week. Which, since I am not taking any regents, means that I will have those 4 days off, plus three random days off between semesters, which is pretty cool.
Now I get to leave you all out with more track stuff. Mwa ha ha. Actually, not much news. My 4 x 800 relay team was DQ'ed at the Hispanic Games because our anchor only ran three laps instead of four. But my time sucked anyway, my 800 on the way to my 1000 three weeks ago was faster than my plain old 800 on sunday (which was 3:00)
Ooh, My robot which I was sure was going to fail (and almost did) PASSED. My group got an 85. The stinky part was we missed a 90 by 1 point (we got 150 points, 151 points were needed for a 90) AND one of our tasks came thisclose to being completed, which would have gotten us another 40 points. And now we're building "sumobots", a.k.a. robots that fight each other. I killed ours. Quite literally. We had just finished building it, and I, being the spaz I am, dropped it and all the legos fell apart so now we have to rebuild it. Grr.
Umm... nothing else interesting. Except that a kid passed out in my bio class yesterday. We were learning about kidney dialysis, when suddenly there's this crash and he's on the floor. Somewhat creepy. He's fine though. Oh, and the votes for our freshman trip are in. We're going on a (one day) ski trip!!! Exciting, but, um, in what snow? It was 76 degrees on saturday...
Okay, I'm done. Toodles.
....since LILY sao bluntly said that i haven't been posting. ;P I was planning on writing this super long post on what i did for christmas and new years and what I got but I haven't got the time and now I'm back at school and i have even less time.
basketball season started, and i've had two games so far. We won out first 30-17 and our second 21-14. But now i'm covered in bruises, floor burns, and i've pulled my hamstring. yet i still love basketball and am siked for my next game nest tuesday. so there, I talked about MY sport (even though I'm totally left out of all this track stuff).
I'm also preparing for my piano competition, and my math exam. the exam is this thursday and i'm TOTALLY GONNA FAIL!!!! AHHHHH!!!! and the competition is the first weekend of march, which is still mildly far away.
The musical for my grade is starting the first week of february and i hope i get a big part, i got a medium part last year and I wanna be the vain LEAD haha.
anyway, that's some of the stuff that's been happening to me, i might still post about my christmas stuff, where i got a new.... BRIGHT GREEN NANO IPOD OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!! ( i can't believe i just typed omg that many times, or at all, jeez)
and i'm reading a really good book now by phillipa gregory calld the other boleyn girl anyone heard of her/read it?
and..... I GOT CONTACTS!
Remember the passionfruit ceremony? Well, if you went to it, I mean. It was raining outside. I was smart and brought a towel to sit on, which meant about six people crowded onto it with me. And we all sat out there in the rain, and the RA's are like "um, you guys can go inside" but we're like "no, it's tradition!" Then the rain got harder and so we just said forget tradition and went inside to the little lounge-y thing outside the bookstore. Where, due to extreme air conditioning and our wetness it was *freezing*. And really sad, of course, because we all knew we'd be leaving in a few hours. And I spilled my passionfruit and was afraid to ask Julia for more. I think someone went around with refills eventually, Then we spelled CTY with the cups, except I kind of left before it was completely finished because I was wet and cold and it was almost breakfast time. Yeah.
happy oh' SEVEN it's gonna be a good one! wow no one has really posted since i last went on except kathy. KATHY UR COOL! haha i sound like miranda, who HASNT POSTED. muah ha ha.
so on wednesday the coaches made me run VARSITY and i dieeedd. i ran the 55 meter dash, which is like, a really short race. haha and all the real varsity girls were like a meter ahead of me!! hahah but i didnt come in last....there was like ANOTHER GIRL behind me...lol, yeah. woohoo. so anyway, this sunday is the froshes-sophomore meet, woohoo, and im running the 4x4 relay (400 meters each leg) GAHHHHH its scary. okayyy i have to go.
happy 2007!
Another year has past
More enjoyable than the last
So may 2007 be the same
This year we will all aim
To fly high
Until we touch the sky
Of our goals.
Never let go
Of the dreams you hold
And this way 2007 will be
Full of happiness, luck, and prosperity.
and so....does any1 wanna share their new year resolution?
